[Meetup] Important Meetup Dues Changes!!

I have had it with Meetup. They are not a great way to manage our dues anymore and I don't have enough control to fix the issues we have had. I will be cancelling the dues requirement so I hope we don't lose the current pending members that we have. I know at least one of our members is in the pending area because of lack of payment but they recently joined so it is confusing. I can only assume that she was a member previously and no longer eligible for a trial membership. I can't manually change it so it is frustrating!

Also, the time period for membership renewals on Meetup is 18 months and I thought it was 12 months so it is messing up my budget calculations. For anyone who is between 12 and 18 months in their paid membership, I am giving you a grace period to renew and it will be either at the end of March or the beginning of April. Most of you are due to renew in late May (end of the 18 months) so really you are getting a few extra months before I am asking you to renew again. You will have to login to our new website and pay with a credit card to renew but then it should auto renew after that.

All paid members will be added to our new website and going forward, if you want a Spotlight Table or Featured Member spot, you will need to sign up on the new website. I won't be able to move my domain name until April so we will have the temporary URL until then. You will get emails from Wild Apricot so please make sure to look for them to edit your online profile.

I hope there won't be too many hiccups while we transition. Please let me know if you encounter any problems or see any typos on the new website. We will keep Meetup for a while as it is a great way to attract new members but if people want to get the member benefits, they will need to pay their $25/yr dues on our new website.

This new website costs more money but I am also hoping to eliminate a few other expenses after the transition. I won't make a decision to increase our dues until May or June as I want to see how everything works out.

[MEETUP] Mama Mia

There was some confusion about the tickets so I thought I would try to clear it up. Email me if you are still confused.

We had a lot of interest in this event when we spoke about it at our meetings. We debated about what date to do and it turns out that Sun Feb 4th is the best date with the most tickets available. When I did a poll on Facebook, no one wanted the top tier tickets which is what we are purchasing for the Secret Travel Society. So, I figured I would offer to purchase the lower cost tickets to this group since we are purchasing a block of tickets anyway.

I cannot put up hundreds of dollars of my own money with the hope that people will want to go. That is why if you want to attend, you need to purchase your tickets through Meetup. The price covers the theatre fees, taxes and credit card processing fee that Meetup tacks on. I will use this money to purchase a block of tickets on Friday Dec 1st.

We have 10 tickets on hold for the Secret Travel Society (Zone 1 & 2) and 3 tickets on hold for H2H (Zone 5). We will be in the same general area of the theatre but only Zone 1 & 2 will be seated next to each other. We will probably all get together for lunch before or maybe dinner after so there will be an opportunity to be together outside of the show.

This is the very last extension I will do for this event and if you don't purchase your tickets by Nov 30th, then you are welcome to purchase them directly with the 5th Ave Theatre but there is no guarantee you will be seated near the rest of us. It will also be a lot harder to coordinate a lunch or dinner before/after the show as I won't have you on the list.

[Meetup] Eastside Meetings on Hold Again

We tried restarting the Eastside meetings this fall but have not had enough interest to keep these meetings going. Kristina needs your feedback if you want to continue these meetings. She will need a group of 5-10 people who will commit to attending EVERY meeting and also help promote and invite people to attend. This is a community networking group and it requires us all to help out and participate. I would have never taken over the H2H group if I didn't have a group of people to help me out.

Please reach out to Kristina at kmmccrady@aol.com if you are interested in keeping the Eastside meetings going and she will reach out to you. Perhaps you can have some private meetings to get a plan of action together and we can try again after the new year.

If not, we will close out this chapter and continue to build and grow our northend group. We are continuing to add speakers and other fun perks so we look forward to seeing you soon!

[MEELTUP] IMPORTANT UPDATE Regarding Dues

The masses have spoken and I thank each of you who emailed or talked to me about this upcoming change with Meetup. I have made the decision to roll with the changes which means...

• If you have NOT PAID your yearly dues of $25/year then Meetup will REMOVE you from the group. You will receive no warning or notification from Meetup.
• If you are in your TRIAL period, you will be REMOVED at the end of your trial period. You will receive no warning or notification from Meetup.

Also, I have changed the trial period to now be 6 months but this only applies to the members who joined after I made this change. I have no idea when members will be removed and maybe you have already been removed by the time this email goes out. Fun huh?

To find out about the status of your dues payment and renewal date, please visit the Meetup website and log in to your account. Then you will need to view your profile to see this information. This information will NOT be available on the Meetup app on your phone or when you view the website on a mobile device.
If you want to stay connected with our group, you can join our Facebook page/group but since most of our new members find us through Meetup, I will focus most of my attention here.

[Meetup] IMPORTANT CHANGES Regarding Dues

I just got a notification from Meetup that they are changing the way dues are handled. Right now, I have it set where if you do not pay your yearly dues, the Meetup group will disable your ability to RSVP to our meetings.

Starting VERY SOON, if you do not pay your membership dues, you will be REMOVED from our Meetup Group.

This is not ideal obviously. If your trial period has expired (it was set to 90-days from the day that you joined) then you will be removed IMMEDIATELY and without warning. If you do not join within your trial period, then you will be removed at the end of the trial period. I can change the trial period to 180 days (the max) but this will only apply to new members who join after I make that change.

My options are quite limited right now so please let me know what you prefer.

1. Change nothing with the understanding that only 60 people will be left in the group. We currently have 427 members in our group.
2. Disable the dues payments on Meetup and move to a manual process through Square. I will have to use my Virtual Assistant more for this process so that *could* mean that an increase in the yearly dues will have to be implemented.
3. Disable the dues payments on Meetup and move to a membership management website to handle everything. This is the most time consuming and expensive option but in the long run it might be the best solution. I will probably move away from Meetup after this new process is up and running.

In the meantime, if you want to stay connected with our group ... please join our mailing list in case you get removed before I can implement a solution.

[MEETUP] Storm Networking Social - Please RSVP or we have to cancel!

Eastside Meeting Cancelled

Just in case you missed it, the meeting in Redmond tonight has been cancelled due to the weather. The conditions are fine now for driving but there was a concern that it could ice over in the evening so to make sure everyone is safe we cancelled the meeting.
