May H2H Newsletter

Heart to Heart Meeting Reminders for the month of May

HEART TO HEART MONTHLY NEWSLETTER

For May 2020
Hi Monica,
I wrote a Newsletter for April and then forgot to send it. Whoops! I also wrote a newsletter in March but called it the February Newsletter. Whoops again! I just can never get these things right. :)

Things have certainly changed over these last few months. All our meetings have been converted to virtual meetings via Zoom. It is free to use and you can use your phone or computer to tune in. They have mostly been successful and we are getting a decent turnout. We still have Spotlight Tables and they are half price while the meetings are virtual.

A new thing I have implemented is a Monday Night Happy Hour on the nights that we don't have our regular meetings. This is just a short and casual way for us to stay connected during the pandemic. Starting now, I am moving them to Wed nights and the next one is on May 20th. These will continue until people stop showing up.
Another change has been our Bunco Anniversary party. It was originally scheduled for April but then I moved it to June but this would be the day after their supposed open date. Our venue cannot open until Phase 3 which, at the earliest, would be June 16th.  So, now we have pushed it out to Aug 19th which was already on the calendar for a regular bunco night. I will open up the RSVPs when we get closer to the date just to make sure the venue is up and running.

Once we go back to in-person meetings, there will be some restrictions based on the health department guidelines. We probably will never have a serve yourself buffet again so I will be curious what our plated options will be. We will most likely need to sanitize our hands upon entering the venue as well. We also may need to still practice some social distancing which will affect how our seating arrangement will be handled. It is a whole different way of interacting with people again!

Finally, I encourage you to stay connected with each other on our Facebook Group. You can share your own virtual event, a sale or promotion you are holding or just something funny you saw. I have received messages from people that say they are not active with comments or likes but check the group regularly for ways they can help support their local women owned businesses. Make sure you are posting so they can help you out!

NEW CHANGES & UPDATES

We have some changes recently so here is a quick summary of what is going on:
  • Meetings are virtual until we are in Phase 3
  • We are holding virtual Happy Hour (drinking not required) every 1st and 3rd Wed (as long as it is not the same week we hold our Monday meetings)
  • Anniversary party has been postponed again to Aug 19th
  • Our winning term to reference us as a group: HEARTBEATS!
  • Does that mean our regulars will be known as the Regular Heartbeats? :)
  • REMINDER: There will be a $5 cost to attend special meetings like our Anniversary Party, Holiday Party and when we have Speakers. If you are a paid member, your entry is free if you RSVP at least a week in advance!
  • REMINDER: Text message reminders are now being sent to our paid members to remind them to RSVP.

MEMBER APP

Did you know there is a mobile app that you can download and install on your phone that might make it easier for people. There are various things you can do with the app like:
  • Viewing/editing your profile (it will show when you are due for renewal)
  • Contact other members (if they made their info available to see)
  • See list of events
  • RSVP/Pay for events
  • See the list of events you have RSVP'd to
  • MORE!

VENUE UPDATES

Our venue is currently closed during the Stay At Home order and will not be able to open for our meetings until Phase 3. This would be June 16th at the EARLIEST! There will be changes to our menu and seating most likely and I will update you as I hear more. It doesn't sound like we will have enough people to have a buffet option so a plated option will be offered. I don't know what this will look like but typically 3-4 menu choices are offered. I know this will be challenging for people with food allergies/sensitivities so your feedback will be needed when the time comes.

In the meantime, they are still doing take out and delivery. Check out their website for their menu and delivery/take out options. I believe they change the menu depending on what they are able to make each day. Please support our venue so we can go back once the order has been lifted.

ADVENTURE OUTINGS

Kim and Stephanie had a great idea to offer a fun event outside of our meetings for about $30-40 per person. The idea was to do it monthly but guess what? It is a LOT of work to plan and organize monthly fun events. However, they will still organize an event if they think enough people are interested. Feel free to suggest something or help plan a fun event for the group.
In the meantime, I have decided to add more bunco nights to our calendar! The goal is to have 4 per year with one of those being our Anniversary Party. The Anniversary Party, will be the only one that paid members can play for free as it is my way of thanking those of you who support our group. I just can't afford to do that multiple times a year. ;)

All other Bunco Nights will cost $5 in advance or $10 if your RSVP less than a week ahead. There is still the expectation to purchase food and drinks so overall budget for about $25 for a night of fun and laughter.

Right now, I am shooting for the 3rd Wednesday of the month at Shawn O'Donnell's but only once a quarter. I am hoping it will fall in the week between our regular Monday meetings. Our current schedule:
  • Wed Aug 19 (Anniversary Party)
  • Wed Nov 18
Secret Travel Society is on hold until Andrea is back to help me organize our events.
